Respect to Dr and Mrs Okamoto

With Akashi channel in good view, this scenic area is known for the residence of Dr Okamoto Shosuke (1917 - 2004) and his wife Utako (1918 - 2016), who developed Tranexamic acid and Argatroban. The stone lantern and garden rocks have been there since then.

Tranexamic acid has been attracting attention for over 50 years since it was developed. It has been researched on a wide scale by Dr Ian Roberts and his colleague recently. It was confirmed that the medication, when given to patients within 3 hours to outer injuries and major bleeding at childbirth, can reduce the fatal rates. The medicine is still contributing to saving lives the world over.

After Shosuke passed away, Utako kept studying until she herself died at the age of 98.

After both Yurie and Utako were gone,  it was quite by chance that they both rest peacefully here.

We humbly express our respect for Dr Okamoto Shosuke and Dr Okamoto Utako, appreciating the chance of sharing the experience of living in this place.
